Description

As Scouts, we’re used to dealing with money. We fundraise for charities, budget for camps, and raise money for jamborees as part of everything we do to build skills for life. Now, we’ve developed badges that focus on fun, active ways for young people to build their money skills and learn how to be confident in decisions around money.

How to earn your badge:

1) Discover – Understand how money works and what affects the way we use it.

Find out what shapes your spending habits, learn how to manage your money, and think about why some jobs are paid more than others and if that’s always fair.

2) Experience – Build your money skills by trying activities such as trading, budgeting and finding ways to grow your money.

It’s about making good choices, using what you have wisely and seeing how your decisions can lead to success.

3) Mobilise – Take action and find out how to help people with money.

You could organise a fundraiser, start a local project, help others understand money better, or learn how small loans can support businesses here or in other countries.

4) Solve – Take on a challenge that’ll improve your money skills and help you plan for the future.

Whether it’s budgeting for a holiday, saving for your dream car or creating a savings plan, use your thinking to find smart, practical solutions to real-life money problems.

5) Create – Get creative and make something that helps others learn about money in a fun way.

It could be art, music, a project or a game. Use your ideas and be inspired by your community to share important money lessons.
